Linksys/Sipura heritage:

Have they somehow gotten exponentially better in the last 3 years or
something?

 

All I remember of them the last time I tried them is preferring 2 cans and a
string...

Sure, those probably qualify.  We currently recommend the Cisco SPA series
and Grandstream; we don't recommend but will support Polycom.  The one on my
desk currently is a GXP2200 and I rather like it.
