All open source engines out there today are just technology cores; a great deal of middleware, integration and application is required to turn them into service delivery platforms. That makes them a lot like the commercial protocol stacks, e.g. Radvision, used in commercial products. <br>
Architecture is of the essence. A well-architected, clusterable Freeswitch platform (or, say, Kamailio, as in our case) is much more reliable and capable than a badly implemented commercial platform with crappy vendor support. <br>
