{"id":3,"date":"2007-09-06T14:51:02","date_gmt":"2007-09-06T18:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/puck.nether.net\/~jared\/blog\/?p=3"},"modified":"2007-09-06T14:59:09","modified_gmt":"2007-09-06T18:59:09","slug":"interesting-network-developments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/puck.nether.net\/~jared\/blog\/?p=3","title":{"rendered":"Interesting Network Developments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So in the Internet keeping itself interesting on a daily basis, there are three important things that have come out in the past day.\u00a0First is the FCC&#8217;s actions <a href=\"http:\/\/edocket.access.gpo.gov\/2007\/E7-17507.htm\">as noted in the Federal Register<\/a>\u00a0which include responses from only 45 service providers for how they will provide information to <span style=\"font-style: italic\" class=\"Apple-style-span\">&#8220;&#8230;conduct a vulnerability assessment of the Nation&#8217;s critical communications and information systems infrastructure and  shall evaluate the technical feasibility of creating a back-up  emergency communications system that complements existing  communications resources and takes into account next generation and  advanced communications technologies.&#8221;<\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic\" class=\"Apple-style-span\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additionally there is \u00a0interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20070906\/ap_on_hi_te\/internet_fees_justice_department\">news<\/a> regarding so called &#8220;Net Neutrality&#8221; today. \u00a0The DOJ has just one objection to folks doing this, but as the article headline says, &#8220;Feds OK fee for priority Web traffic&#8221;. \u00a0Luckily, I use ssh and other non-http transports for the majority of my activities so this will not impact me, right?<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also ISP news in a Patriot Act lawsuit from the ACLU.
