On our 3550 we don't use the trunk command.

interface FastEthernet0/2
 switchport access vlan 10
 switchport mode dynamic desirable
 switchport voice vlan 110

Do you mean the setup of the switches or the phone?  I can't think of
anything special to do on the phone side, so here is my take on setting up
the switch port...

In general we setup the switch with a separate vlan for voice. In most cases
I use Vlan 10 for voice and the default Vlan for data. Here is a typical
ports settings:
 interface FastEthernet0/2
   switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
   switchport mode trunk
   switchport voice vlan 10
