[cisco-voip] DSP Keepalive Timeout on 7940 phone w/7.2(3)

Is this still only happening to one phone? If so, did you recently
upgrade the firmware on that phone?

I upgraded about 9,000 7960 phones from firmware 5.04 to 7.2.2 and
after the upgrade one phone randomly displayed 'DSP Timeout' messages.
I ended up performing the factory reset command below and reflashing
the phone . But it still had the issue. I think I ended up just
replacing that phone.

Maybe the phone's DSP has gone bad or can not handle the new software?

Factory reset command:

Step 1 Unplug the power cable from the phone and then plug it back in.
The phone begins its power up cycle.

Step 2 While the phone is powering up, and before the Speaker button
flashes on and off, press #. Each line button flashes on and off in
sequence.

Step 3 Press 123456789*0#. You can press a key twice in a row, but if
you press the keys out of sequence, the factory reset will not take
place.

After you press these keys, the phone will prompt you to save network
cfg, 1 to yes and 2 to no, so press 2 and the phone will go through
the factory-reset process. If that button sequence should not work,
although it should, please try this one: 3491672850*#
