Sarah,
Most of the features that the 7931 need to make it worthwhile are not
available till 6.0. (Soft-keys as Line Appearances, Speed dial busy
lamps, pickup group busy lamp, intercom, etc.)
The only advantage of a '31 on 4.x would be a cheap
receptionist/operator/parts department type of phone. (7911 with a 7914
sidecar builtin)
The latest device pack for 4.3 shows no firmware load for the 7931. Even
if it did, callmanager would have to recognize the device type. (which
would likely take a sr)

The latest device pack for 4.2 (46.0) also doesn't contain any firmware
for the phone as well.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, it doesn't really matter if the
compatibly chart says its possible, if there is no firmware or device
type for it, then it won't work. But you knew that....
I might have found the doc you found..

Subject: [cisco-voip] 7931
Does any one know if the 7931 is supported in 4.2(3) version of Call
Manager? I'm getting conflicting information from Cisco website. The
compatibility chart says it is, but when I look up the firmware for the
7931 I don't show a firmware version that is compatible with the 4.2(3)
version of CCM.
Thanks
