[cisco-voip] Elevator Phone

I was just wondering what the manufacture and model number of the elevator phone is so that we can recommend against them and not experience this problem ourselves.

Yeah, it would be one thing if you could explain it, but then the customer asks "why does a $150 ATA work, but a $5395 VG224 doesn't?" and your only answer is "I don't know" that's a bad situation.

It's sitting on top of the VG224 - both of them are probably less than 50ft of cable away from the elevator call boxes.

FYI I never could make it work on a VG224, but it worked fine on an ATA186.

I compared a debug of a call from the elevator phone that was disconnected to a call from my buttset that went through just fine. There are no differences between them. For some reason the elevator device is not liking the line and disconnecting itself, but nothing I have changed (idle voltage, output attenuation, input gain and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff) has made any difference. I'm going to bring an ATA tomorrow to see if that makes any difference.

Adam,

On the voice-port, try adding the 'idle-voltage high' command.  I've experienced the same symptoms with elevator phones and intercoms and that command resolved the issue.

Walter,

The VG224 is running 12.4(9)T7. The calls are staying on campus, so I can't debug it at the PSTN gateway. If I use an analog handset at the location it works just fine - it appears to be an issue with the elevator phone unit itself. I don't know if the phone is not detecting the ringing or something like that. I'm going to head back over to it in a few minutes to try some more hands on troubleshooting.

I have a couple of elevator phones connected to a VG224 gateway that do not want to work. When you hit the call button they pick up the line and dial digits, but after a couple of seconds they disconnect. Other elevator units on campus work, but there is a combination of elevators manufacturers and phone models. I unfortunately do not have the make and model of the phones that don't work in front on me. Any suggestions? The VG224 gateways are MGCP controlled.
