I had a similar request, ended up using two lines as it didn't do what
they desired...

Subject: [cisco-voip] Shared lines and Line button light on
7941/7961/etcphones

Hi,

I think this is a limitation of the system, but thought I'd ask
anyway....

Call Manager 6.1 , have shared line on 3 phones and when someone else
on a call on the extension on the other phone, the line button shows
as red on phones with out a call on them. When a second call comes in
to that shared line and someone else picks it up, the line button
changes to green because they are on the call on their phone. But,
they are wanting to tell when the other person is on the phone or not
while they have someone else waiting on the line for them to become
free. But the line button lamp shows green because they have an active
call on it waiting for the other person to become free.

So, the office setup is like, 2 receptionists and then the boss in a
closed office. The boss can answer the calls to on the shared line to.
The receptionists answer the calls a majority of time and then tell
the boss they have a call and they put the shared line on hold and the
boss picks it up off of hold. They don't want to park the call or
transfer the call to another number.
