[cisco-voip] CM 4.2(3) to 6.1(2) upgrade

Most directory errors in DMA are caused by missing required fields. The most popular reason being that a user doesn't have a last name. That would be something relatively easy to identify.

Also, according to CSCsk22663, DMA 5.1.3 and 6.1.1 will backup and restore PAB entries. I also believe DMA backs up fast dials now too. I recall this was an issue with DMA 5.0, but is resolved now.

Check out (5.X doc, but should still be relevant):

I have done a 4.2 AD integration, and a 6.1 AD sync, and the new way is much better.

i ran DMA for the first time and got a number of directory errors and dma said failed. Think i will open a tac case.

im also looking for a document which says what will be changed for end users. Like PAB and Fast Dials will be lost.?

Actually, the LDAP integration in the Linux CUCMs is quite easy when
compared to the old Windows integration. I believe DMA will copy all the
users out of LDAP and drop them into the DB in 6.X. After that, you will
need to go and configure the LDAP integration under "System - LDAP -
System|Directory|Authentication". Once you configure the sync, your LDAP
integration should be set.

This is relatively painless. Also, you only need to setup the LDAP
Authentication portion if you want the users to use their AD creds to
login into ccmuser. All the application users will be stored in the DB
via the "Application Users" section.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Bill.

I'm getting ready for a 4.2(3) to 6.1(2) upgrade. The CM 4.2 is AD
integrated. I don't see anything in the procedures dealing with AD
integration.

How bad is this going to be???
