Yes, there was a similar bug (CSCdx15510 here: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCdx15510) but that applied to version 3.1.(3a) and was to be fixed in v3.4(0.15)
There is some code listed for that bug here: http://supportwiki.cisco.com/ViewWiki/index.php/The_7914_IP_Phone_Expansion_Module_installation_displays_an_error_message to provide a manual workaround but I'm not sure if that will mess anything up.....

I believe there was a bug similar to this in a certain version of CM
that a subsequent patch fixed - no idea if it was in 4.2.1.
