] for packet buffers or something dynamically allocated, but I would guess
] that it is running pretty close to the edge with these numbers.
you'll find that the "fast" memory entry is the same on any Cisco (at least
any i've seen). according to Cisco, this 128k block of "fast" memory is
carved out of the DRAM and used specifically for IDB storage -- if you do
a "sho mem fast" you'll see this is pretty obvious.
as for running low, you'd have to allocate far more interfaces than seems
reasonable on the router to run out of space -- and if you do (according to
Cisco -- haven't confirmed), blocks of DRAM are used for the overflow.
