You people never read my (2) posting, that says that "full-duplex" line from
interface config went missing when I was cut-n-pasting. Of course, both
sides are set to 100/FDX (I've tried HDX, too - sympthoms are exactly the
same). And yes, I did try a few different patch cables, that are known to be
good and working.

Right now situation looks very dim: I would blame it either on SE or a
backplane, because X5234 is a *completely* new blade, and X5225R that I had
before in this exactly the same switch did behave in absolutely the same
manner, so it must be something else than the port blade. Switch is on the
testing bed now, and nothing has been plugged into it that might have caused
it to blow since it arrived (for obvious reasons - it never worked as it
should!)
