Hi Jan,

It could be an issue with negotiation on the port; if either 'speed nonegotiate' on an IOS-based device or 'set port negotiation <x/x> disable' on a CatOS switch is set.

I've seen this cause gig ports on a Cat3550 and a 7500 router (both were connected to Cat6500s) to show up/up even when the cable is unplugged.

Just a possibility :-)

Hi all,

i have a rather strange phenomenon on a customer router (NPE400, 7206 with on Board GIGE):

When i remove the GIGE Fibre directly on the router, the interface goes down/down
if i either disable it on the switch or "break" the fibre in between, the interface stays up/up.

Anyone have an idea ?

MY open cisco case is: Call Nr. C766053

Greetings

Jan
