The 3550 ( with layer3 ) whould be able to handle the traffic load, as well
as your mls needs, however, your problem will come in from your "upstream"
connectivity, If it is FastE, then you are ok, but if you say, had a flex
wan in your 6509, there is no wan capabilities in the 3550.
