This is a two fold problem. If you're running CDP turn it off. Also you
will need to run the latest CATOS which is 5.4.2. We've had the same
issues at my company and we use the 6509 platform. Problem turned out to
be code. After banging away with the TAC on an unrelated issue TAC told
us to disable CDP if we were running it and the problem *should* go away.
Well, it did but not across all of our devices. It worked less than
half the time when running CATOS 5.4.1 (which also has a security issue).
We then upgraded to CATOS 5.4.2 per the TAC and the problem is gone.
Upgrade your cat and reload the router and the problem will go bye bye.
Cisco has been aware of this issue for some time now as there are many
people out there that have been experiencing this bug onn ALL hardware
types, network
and server.
