OK. Letīs confirm your theory:

                        _____ ____
                     | | IBGP | |
                 | R1 |--------| R4 |
                 |_____| |____|
                      |RR
                          |
                    |
                  __|Client
                 | |
                 | R2 |
                 |_____|
                    |RR
                          |
                    |
                  __|Client
                 | |
                 | R3 |
                 |_____|

If R2 is a RR client peering with R1, and R3 is a RR client peering with R2,
R3 advertisements will be forwarded by R2 to R1 and then to R4 (non-client
peer), and R4 advertisements will be forwarded to R2 by R1 and then to R3,
am i correct?
I just want to know if the protocol has this scalability, regardless of the
next-hop issues.

Thanks,

RRs can be RR clients to other RRs in the RR hierarchy. Just be careful of how you build your tree, as loops are possible under certain configurations. Your RR tree should attempt to mirror you virtual L3 topology. RR clients should never peer with a RR through another RR, as loops can form.

Hi all,

Has anyone tried to run two instances of BGP RR on the same router, one peering as a route reflector and the other as a route reflector client?
