I sent this to George only last night by accident, sorry George.

I'm running 12.0(11)S3 which has the same problem. How new does your IOS
have to be?

In any case a
set port negotiation <mod>/<port> disable

on the switch fixed it. Turning on auto negotiation on the router didn't
work for me.
