RE: [nsp] [NSP] T3 port adapter and back-to-back testing

I need to clarify some more....

I am in a lab situation, I am trying to test some port adapters before they
are sent out to the field. I was told the CSU's are built into these PA-2T3
adapters, so I should be able to just set the transmit to recieve on both
sides and it should work. I was seeing multiple CRC's and the line protocol
was going up and down constantly. When it was up, I could ping, but in the
middle it would timeout due to line protocol down.

I am trying to verify my config. I have tried setting a clock, tried new
adapters and new VIP's.

Thanks,

Richie, who is provididng your leased lines. I am wondering who told you
that you do not have to configure clock, as you will need a timing source
which is usually provided by the telco and if this is the case you configure
for line...Respond if you need more info...

Can someone assist me with this? I have two 7505 routers with RSP4, VIP2-50
and PA-2T3 port adapters. I am performing testing and need to connect the
T3's back-to-back. I am having trouble with the config and/or possibly the
adapters. I have been informed that I don't need to configure clock on one
side as usually is done. I understand the concept of DCE to DTE cables as I
have done this with serial connections and no problems.

I am using 75ohm, 16AWG cables with the transmit going to the receive on the
other router and vice versa.

The questions:
1. Do I need special cables?

2. Do I need to set clock on one side?

3. Do I need to set clock source internal or line?

If you have a sample config to use that would be great or want to contact me
directly please do so.

Thanks in advance,
Richie Bowick
