My understanding, per a half-remembered cisco conversation, is that you
need an RSP8 + MIX enabled chassis + VIP4 to get the new 2 gb/s bus.

You can still stick VIP2's in the MX chassis, but I dunno what happens to
the bus (does it slow down on that side?) if you do.

Granted, but if the packet is VIP to VIP with dCEF and it is Auton/SSE
switched, the packet never hits the RSP, at least thats what I remember.
