It may depend on what class of switch you are running...
For a 2900-XL there doesn't seem to be a flag to allow incoming packets
on a destination port, however even after configuring span I was able to
ping through to a destination interface. I did not verify that span was
properly working, only that it was "enabled".
For a 6500 class switch using IOS 12.1E, the manual seems to indicate
under the "SPAN Configuration Guidelines and Restrictions" section that:
"You cannot configure a SPAN destination interface to receive ingress
traffic."
I have not verified this myself - best way to know for sure is to test
it out if you can.
