Naive comment:
Part of the operational challenge of IP Multicast is that,
at present, as deployed, there is no IGP/EGP split.
Multicast would be A LOT more tractable operationally
if there were at least the IGP/EGP split -- preferably a
few levels (rather than just 2). Divide and conquer is a
good operational strategy.
