[alcatel-nsp] Software upgrade through ISSU

Hi Amit,

ISSU procedures are documented in each SR-OS Release Notes document that accompanies the release. Release Notes are available through http://www.alcatel-lucent.com/myaccess or http://www.alcatel-lucent.com/ipsupport however an account is required for access to these documents.

The procedure varies slightly depending on whether you are performing major or minor ISSU, but in a nutshell it is:


1.     Perform the upgrade as standard

a.     Copy the SR-OS software onto the node

b.     Copy the BOOT.LDR file to the root of CF3:

c.     Update BOF with new software versions

d.     Save and synchronize your configuration and BOF/boot-environment

2.     Perform an 'admin reboot standby now' to restart the secondary SF/CPM

3.     When the secondary SF/CPM is online and synchronized, perform 'admin redundancy force-switchover'.

4.     When the (now secondary) SF/CPM is also rebooted and online, perform 'clear card N soft hard-reset-unsupported-mdas' to soft reset the slot - this WILL perform a hard-reset where soft-reset is not supported.

However, I strongly suggest reviewing the procedure as documented in the Release Notes and familiarize yourself with it. It is important to be clear on this if performing an ISSU, and ensuring you do not rush the process.
