I apologize to all those who replied to my posting about a front panel
for a 51J-4. It is actually a 51J-2 panel!
After a long telephone conversation with a Collins 51J-x collector in
Florida a few minutes ago it's become obvious that it is ***NOT*** a
panel for a 51J-4 but it is a panel for a 51J-2!!!!!
Time to start over again!
Again, it's in very good condition as far as the lettering and most of
the face of the panel is concerned. The edges, bottom in particular,
and around the cutouts where the mountain screws go are shiny with bare
metal and there are a few quite minor imperfections elsewhere. Look
back at my previous posting (R388/51Jx front panel) or ask and I'll send
it to you with more detail.
I have JUST THE METAL PANEL no bezel, no glass, nothing else and it is
complete with the brass riveted ears to hold the glass and the zero
adjust brass piece except it is missing the pointer. You could easily
solder on a small stiff wire and paint it red.
If you are interested in purchasing this panel, please make me an
offer. I figure it would be about 10 pounds to ship after packing and
padding it well. Assuming I get offers, I will make a decision on a
sale by the beginning of next week.
Again, sorry for my confusion!
Ian, K6SDE
