According to Penson's book, the Sixer I have is the "rare" non-A
version: it has the 50mc, 5th overtone xtal. Have more turned up since
'95, the first edition copy? One other mod: an S0-239 antenna jack in
place of the test jack on the back, paralleled with the phono one.
Forgot to list the EICO 950A "resistance-capacitance-comparator
bridge". While it looks nice, it's guaranteed NOT to work! I hope the
would-be kit-builder learned how to solder later, 'cause he sure botched
this one . . . I think it's all there, and was likely never used, since
it almost certainly doesn't work (I will NOT try it!) . . . the paint on
top of the cabinet is peeling in a 2" area - looks like it wasn't
adequately degreased at the factory.
What attracted me to the EICO was it's similarity to the "blue box"
CONAR units. I'd trade it even/toward a CONAR VTVM, hopefully a
blue-box version. I've only seen a brown-box one, which would do. I'm
assembling a CONAR test-instrument shelf, since it complements my eye
color . . . hey, any reason is better than none!
