Yes -- around 1960.  Pair of 6146's .  Built bailing wire style across a
table.  Worked quite well.  Most of the time, I had to tell the other
station that I was transmitting both sidebands.  My buddies at the time
were mostly still on AM, so I didn't stay long on the SSB ends of the
bands and never built the DSB transmitter into a permanent
configuration.
