Info request on Central Electronics 100V

Hi All,
A slightly different question about the Central Electronics gear...
My 600L linear has a 160 meter position, but the 100V required a special
modification (and the hard-to-duplicate passband coupler) for 160 operation.
I wonder why? I'm guessing that the 600L was intended to also work with
the 20A type rigs, which did cover 160, but when the 100V included "all but
the kitchen sink", why not put the 160 circuitry in? This sort of
"optional feature" certainly became a mainstay of many rigs that followed -
and continues to the present day!
