Seems like a good recommendation. I remember a chirpy VFO on a Ranger I
used back in the 1950's. The problem is caused by RF feedback into the
oscillator when it is running on the same frequency as the output. When the
VFO operates on 160 it is not susceptible to the strong RF on 7 MHz. I
always designed the homebrew rigs I built in that era to at least double the
frequency between the VFO and the final RF frequency.
