I'd like to thank all those who responded with suggestions for my BFO
problem. Turns out, as a couple of you guys surmized, that it was really
the 1st conv osc stage where the problem is. It appears that the problem may
lie in the bandswitch; possibly a contact \ bad ground? The instability is
exacerbated by wiggling the band switch ever so slightly. Cleaning
attempts, etc have not provided any improvement.( initially did sub several
NOS 12BY7's of course) I'm fed up for now; back to the shelf! At least it
LOOKS nice sitting there. I was planning on using it with my DX100B,
Marauder, Warrior line up. The Drake R4B looks a little dorky sitting with
those three giants! Tnx again guys; tomorrow is another day. Bill
