Simon,
        I agree and have in my collection tube type receivers and
transmitters from many countries that could easily anchor a boat. Should our
definition of the radios that are discussed on this list be limited to only
totally American made radios, Collins, Heathkit and Johnson to name a few
would be not list material. Why, look inside for the brand names on the
components used, many were not manufactured in the US so these radios not
purely American. A good example that a little tolerance goes a long way.
What about hybrid radios, partially tube and transistor, do these belong on
the list?

        I can understand the 'I do not want to hear about none tube type
radios' feeling. Operating Boat anchors takes more than plugging them in, it
requires dedication and technical competence. Both are quickly disappearing
from the amateur bands as more appliance operators take over. A the last ham
fest I had to show a 'Extra Class' how to solder a PL-259 on and that's sad.
