Another movie with Micky Rooney playing young Edison Morse code is used to avert a train wreck. He uses the train whistle to send a message to let an approaching train know the bridge is out. He and his sister played with Morse Code as a game. The sister on the approaching train decoded the message and saved the day.

Did anyone else see or has seen the movie "Love Finds Andy Hardy" with
Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland? It's from 1938. Andy's mom is in Ontario
(telling from the VE3) with a sick relative, and Andy and his dad sends
a message to her via Ham Radio. One of his friends calls CQ for someone
from the town where Mrs. Hardy is and he finally gets someone. He takes
the message to Mrs. Hardy after receiving it on the air.

His rig(s) were kinda neat. He must have been running a seperate
transmitter and receiver. My dad was asking me why he flipped the knife
switch to speak. I figured it was the transmit/receive switch like you'd
use on twins.

Thought it was kinda cool. Never thought there was Ham Radio in a Mickey
Rooney movie!
