Info Needed: APG-5 Radar

Anyone have any information on the APG-5 radar?
I've got and AS-68/APG-5 antenna by Galvan
that is dated 1944.  Fiberglass cylinder with
a tip on top and N-connector on the bottom.  It looks like
the front of a bomb or torpedo.  Only thing I can
find is a reference to the AN/APG-5 radar used
in the Lockheed F-90 jet fighter of 1949, but
this doesn't jibe with the unit or the 44 contract date.

Anyone got any clues?
