DX-40 Problem...Any Ideas?

Greetings anchorites

I am working on a DX-40. The unit works with the function switch in the
CW position and puts out 40-50 watts on all bands (works in the AM
position too) but.......in the the other two positions, tune, and
standby, the switch begins to arc. Now I can not find anything touching
that could be the cause of this. I don't have a schematic. This is really
weird. Any thoughts from anybody??
