You have to figure that these choices are made for looks and stylistic
reasons and not to keep folks like us happy.  On the "Wings" TV show
there was a S-20R in the boss's office that had a mike hooked to it, for
transceive operation.  On "Heat of the Night," they used a Motorola base
unit that would've been appropriate for the '60's -- but this was the
'80's.  In "Captain Jack" you had the S-38 from hell.

Most folks don't know or care for these rigs like we do.
