HQ-180-A capacitor-covers?

Hello folks... I have a VERY nice HQ-180-A (and a nearly spotless interior)
that I'm curious about. My HQ-180 (with a 'fair' interior) has covers over
the tuning capacitor compartments; the HQ-180-A-despite its otherwise
beautiful interior-does not. Can anyone shed any light on this. Are they
missing? Did Hammarlund decide they weren't necessary? Thanks.
