Need Howard 435 advise

Hi all, I am in the process of cleaning and detailing a couple of 1940s
Howard receivers, a 435 with a black crackle finish and a 435A with gray
crackle. I would like to send the speaker grille screens off to be refrocked
but am not sure about the original colors as there is not one fiber of
original material left to judge that on either one. Does anyone on the list
know what color they should be?
