another Whatizzit..??

Gang:

     I dragged an NC-303 out of a basement (saved it from
the dumpster) so will add it to the Projects Pile.  Inside
is the National XCU-300 crystal calibrator which plugs into
the calibrator socket. The "whatizzit:" there is a smaller
box (with one tube) attached to the XCU-300, and it looks
as though it was built that way.

     What have I got there?
