Recementing tube caps (and bases ?)

Don't use epoxy because it softens with increased temperature. Silicone rubber
might work, but I've not tried it. The original cement was made by Saureisen (?)
I believe. It is likely still available. A web search yielded this:

It's a mix with water cement for glass and metal.  Al checked it and it costs $1
plus $5 S&H. It might be worth a try, IMO.
