No... you're not crazy, rather, you make a good point Greg... but for most
of us the bottom line is a WORKING radio. If you have the tools to test the
radio-and thereby determine what its sensitivity is; and the experience to
get a feel for how well-or not-its interference rejection is-or is
not-working, then preservation is important-to whatever extent is possible.

Personally, I feel a bad component must be replaced, and if the only
solution (as in orange drops) is a modern component-so be it.
