RCA Model AVR-20-A

Anyone have any information on this radio? It is about a 6" cube aircraft receiver tunable from 2300 to 6500khz. It has a large 6V tag in the upper right corner. I know these were used in private planes but suspect they may have been used in the military as there is an orange stamp mark on one side. There is an octal plug end on a wire bundle for connection to an external pwr. supply. Wonderiing year of mfr. and military useage, maybe in light observation or liason aircraft. Any info?
