Oh the nostalgia!  Back in the 50's when there was a great opening on 6 mtrs, I lived in Seattle on top of a fair sized hill. With a Gonset Communicator with a 54" whip antenna deployed on top of the rig and sitting on top of the kitchen table, I worked all but one of the Japanese zones in about a four hour period.  I had to give up with many Nihongin still calling, "Don't go Fredsan, I need Washington state!!!"  Think the wet noodle would have worked. Fred W7PRV
