Heh, how amusing. I have nothing against folks making money for their
efforts, I actually appreciate having the access. But you're right on
the mark about the prices vs reasoning. Tubes are the proverbial iffy
purchase, so why pay top $ without the ability to get a replacement if
your new purchase is bad?

We're lucky up this way to have a few tube sellers who are fair,
reasonable, and nice folks overall. Dick Bergeron of Electron Tube
Enterprises is one of the nicest guys you'll meet, and tries his best
to make you a fair deal. He's in Maine now, but when he lived up in
Essex Jct VT I can remember driving to his place one Saturday night to
get some tubes for my 'new' Clegg Venus station. He spent a fair
amount of time hauling down the boxes to pluck out a few tubes for me
so that I didn't have to wait for the mail. He also has a few boxes of
oddballs tubes he takes with him to sell for a buck or so at hamfests
and radio meets. Weird things for those who like to line up old tubes
on a shelf.
