Re-chroming a Gonset G-66B Faceplate?

Anyone experience with re-plating or polishing-to-shine a
Gonset G-66B receiver?

I have pictures of the rig here:

Note where the seller scraped some of the surface rust
with his fingernail.  It *may* be possible to buff or
polish clean but I am guessing that it will never look
mirror-shiny unless stripped and re-chromed and re-labeled.

Sure would appreciate the informed wisdom of the list!

Once cleaned and restored this will be paired with my
Knight T-150A.
