300 Watt AM Amp Plans?

Oh, this is the ideal spot for a good ol' classic big bottle amplifier! Lots of drive available and, as other's have pointed out, you need a lot of overhead to handle your AM - a good 300W of 100% carrier for long'ish times with peaks of 1200W or so. So maybe 300 or more watts of plate dissipation - and that leads one to a nice single 3-500Z, lots of blower and a nice power supply. Personally I would love to have a classic linear with the bottle visible behind a transparent window. Would be a bit on the big size due to the required vertical mounting of the tube, clearance, etc but still very do-able. And certainly lots of information out there. And even some oldies that might work well. I am presently tearing down some old linears and parting them out so I am always thinking of what I might build if????? Oh, well, dreams are nice.

Subject: [BOATANCHORS-TEMPE] 300 Watt AM Amp Plans?

Am looking around for some plans for a homebrew 300W AM amp to use with my
TX-1. Anyone have any suggestions/favorites? (I have quite a few 807's,
BTW, but I realize this is hardly an ideal tube...<grin>...but it would be
fun to use them, as they are "at hand"...)

Tnx,

Lin/KJ6EF
