Hi Al,
Dupli-color Auto Spray
DS GM 353 DARK RED M
BAR CODE: 26916 13353 3
is what I've used for my Viking 1, bought at NAPA, in small, 5oz cans.
Slightly metallic, but very nice looking. Several yrs ago I tried getting a
Ranger (I think) cabinet matched, with no luck at several computer match
places. One past cabinet had been done in a brownish hue, it really looked
bad.
Also, from my archives, " it is common knowledge GM7191 is a good match
for the maroon paint Johnson used on their cabinets and the majority of
their front panels" not sure who said that, or if it's the same stuff.

I was wondering if the cabinet of a Ranger I is the same color as the
brownish-maroon on the front panel. The one I am trying to restore has had
the cabinet repainted black, or pretty close to it, so I can't tell. I
bought some of the Rustoleum Kona Brown #1977 that was mentioned in one of
the mod pages online, but it is a little lighter color than the front panel.
I could use it on the cabinet if it is normal for it to be slightly lighter
than the front panel. Otherwise, I should probably look for a darker color
paint.
Thanks,
Al, WA2AS
