Babcock 6146 Power Supply HV Question

The Babcock D-X MT-5A transmitter has a single
6146 final.

When I shared with a fellow Ham that the PS
high voltage was 350V @ 250MA he was puzzled
since the 6146 can handle twice that.

Anyone familiar with the Babcock who can explain
their choice of a single 350v 250ma PS high voltage?

Might it have been for ease of use with a DC-DC
mobile supply?
