WD-40 always worked for me before I discovered Deoxit. I'm sure an engineer 
 could explain why Deoxit is better chemically but I can't tell the 
difference in  performance after an application of either one from a layman's 
standpoint. Balky  bandswitch or potentiometer... both work equally well.
