Let me add to the conversation. I once bought a bubble packed carpenter's triangle at the hardware store. It came complete with a packaged LIVE cockroach. I have no idea how long it is from packaging, to store shelf, to purchase. This just proves that when it is all over, the cockroaches will still be here.
