Hi Alan - this should not be that big of an issue.

If it has an octal socket, it may be a 6V6 or a 6L6. I built a homebrew 
transmitter back in the late 60's that used a 6C5 driving a 6L6 but I 
used a 5Z3 for the rectifier tube. If it is not an octal socket, may 
well be a 807 or 1625 as Meir suggested. That should be an easy check 
depending upon the tube socket.
