Trust me Vic...This is not a KW amp... it is a KW PEP meaning a 500 watt
amp... The plate dissipation on a 3-500 is only 500 watts... I have a buddy
here in Mesquite that thought it was a 1 kw amp and tried to get that out of
it and now it is in for repair... Ameritron specs are very poorly written on
it... It is a great 500 watt amp as are the 811's.
My 2 cents worth...

Subject: [BOATANCHORS-TEMPE] Linear Question
Hello Anchorites:
Just wanted to toss this question out there abt the Ameritron amps 80B and
the 572.
With all things being equal, anybody have any experience with either of
them?
Seems like the 80B is 1Kw with a 3-500 tube in it and for a couple of
hundred more
you get the 1300 watt 572 with 4 each 572's.
Am I correct in assuming the 572's are 811's on steroids pushed a little
harder?
Is it worth the extra money for the 300 watt difference between the two, or
what?
Thanks guys,
Vic WA2ARQ
