[Boatanchors] Hickock 752 tube tester

I have a Hickock 752 tube tester and would like to get info on just what job the two rectifier tubes in the unit perform.

One is a 83 mercury vapor type and the other is a 5Y3.

Does the 83 tube provide a higher level of B+ voltage for transmitting tubes while the 5Y3 provides lower level B+ for receiving tubes??

Sure would appreciate any info from you knowledgeable folks.
